Several movies, which are based on true stories, can inspire you to get back into the swing of life. I will share a few of my favorites.
Iron Will which is a movie about a seventeen-year-old boy who does what man people cannot do, is a story of hope. Will Stoneman and his family is about to lose everything because of this unexpected death within the family. He signs up for a 500-mile sled dog race against men, he is facing steep odds.
Before he begins the race, young Will is talking to his father's best friend. This particular conversation moved me deeply. Young Will says he feels alive once more because he is living out his father's dream. This movie has inspired me to attack a personal problem like Iron Will did in the movie. This movie is loosely based on the life of Albert Campbell whom did in fact do the 1917 race to fulfill a dying wish of his father.
Patch Adams is also one of those golden movies that inspire us to be more than we think we can be. This one is based on the true story of a medical student who altered the way doctors and patients interact. Patch Adams, played by the unforgettable Robin Williams, believed that laughter along with other unorthodox methods was the key to healing the patient. You make the patient laugh or smile and it helps them to heal quicker.
This movie was set in the late sixties and early seventies when doctors were very formal and medicine was a science. Hospital back then did not have arts and crafts or volunteers to bring smiles. Watching this movie and really understanding it can inspire other people to be more than they set out to be.
Coal Miner's Daughter is based on the true life of country music super star Loretta Lynn. In this movie, we see as young Loretta grows up and travels the county distributing her music by hand. When watching this movie I see how she went from a poor girl to an international singer. She followed her dream and her passion within the movie is awe-inspiring. In the movie, Sissy Spacek plays Mrs. Lynn.
Watching these movies based on real life can help us all take the steps to achieve our dreams.
